KUANTAN, Thurs:
The Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has urged all political parties and their leaderships in the state to focus on efforts to unite the people regardless of their backgrounds.
Party leaders at all levels must uphold the spirit of cooperation if they wanted to ensure that the people could continue to live in harmony, he said.
"The general election has just concluded and all elected representatives must from then on work hard to serve the people no matter which political party they are from. We must also strive hard and work together so that we can create a better place for all," he said at the state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration here today. Present were his consort Tengku Puan Pahang Tengku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob.
More than 5,000 people joined the event at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee hall here which saw several contingents marched into the hall.
Tengku Abdullah said the political parties should also cooperate with the government agencies and members of the public to organise programmes that could improve the quality of the people. The Maulidur Rasul celebration was important as it could encourage the Muslims to improve themselves and become a better person, he added.
