Ya-Sin (Ya-Sin)
36:40 [and] neither may the sun overtake the moon, nor can the night usurp the time of day, [21] since all of them float through space [in accordance with Our laws].

Az-Zumar (The Groups)
39:5 He it is who has created the heavens and the earth in accordance with [an inner] truth. [5] He causes the night to flow into the day, and causes the day to flow into the night; and He has made the sun and the moon subservient [to His laws], each running its course for a term set [by Him]. [6] Is not He the Almighty, the All-Forgiving? |

Fussilat (Explained in Detail)
41:37 Now among His signs are the night and the day, as well as the sun and the moon: [hence,] adore not the sun or the moon, but prostrate yourselves in adoration before God, who has created them - if it is Him whom you [really] worship. |

The comments on that
See 10:5, where the sun is described as "a [source of] radiant light" (diya’) and the moon as "light [reflected]" (nur); both these interpolations are explained in note 10 on 10:5.(Quran Ref: 71:16 ) |
