They were my shots... I have not been out with the camera quite a while.
Other than the handphone camera.
How's things with you?

I’m doing fine. I’m still giving my weekly talk and doing my newsletters. I’ve also started a family website at myfamily.com for everyone to pitch in with their stories that I can copy into future editions. Of course, I’m still following up on all the latest news reports.
It looks like the US economy is set for a downturn this summer. We’ll see how big a blow in a few weeks, but the housing market has been in a funk for a while now and there will be repercussions throughout the economy to be sure, especially with the two wars draining on the economy like it’s doing.

I am taking the family for a four day holiday at the beach in the east coast town of Kuantan. There we would also be attending a wedding.

Enjoy yourself, obmar.
Hey, I understand there are a few volcanoes that have erupted recently in your neck of the woods (well actually, Indonesia, but still that’s rather close). Can you see the effects of those eruptions from where you are?

Actually Malaysia is pretty safe as far as earthquakes are.
We are surrounded by the Ring of Fire but we dont have a single volcano within our borders.
The Children enjoyed the swim in the hotel pools rather than the sea, though.
We stayed at this place during the trip.

Very pretty, obmar.
I see it's close to Club Med there as well.
Did you drive there by car, or did you fly in?
The distance looks roughly similar to the distance between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, though there are no beaches at Las Vegas. However, the resorts are more plentiful and have a boatload of entertainment possibilitiesl, even if one doesn't gamble.

I drove.
It's a smooth drive over a newly completed highway.

I’m impressed, obmar.
Is there a lot of highway construction going on in your country nowadays compared to a few years ago??

this one was quite new and it cut short the time by nearly half.
The distance is not that much a difference but being a lot straighter and with the lorries taking the normal route it is a lot faster.
have you heard about the smart tunnel?

What is SMART?
SMART is an acronym for Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel, a project under the Federal Government initiated to alleviate the flooding problem in the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. The project is implemented through a joint venture pact between MMC Berhad and Gamuda Berhad with the Department of Irrigation And Drainage Malaysia and the Malaysian Highway Authority as the executing government agencies.
