Three Corporations Pay RM1.7 Mln Tithes To MUIP
KUANTAN, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Three corporations paid their 2005 business tithes totalling RM1.7 million to the Pahang Islamic Affairs Council (MUIP), Tuesday.
They are Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (which paid RM278,375.53), Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (RM841,811) and TH Plantations (RM663,256.69).
Meanwhile, 18 firms also agreed to conduct business tithes assessment and to act as collection agents for the Pahang Tithes Collection Centre (PKZP).
Three banks -- Public Bank Berhad, Ambank (M) Berhad and Maybank Malaysia Berhad -- also signed agreements with PKZP to provide tithes payment services through their respective auto teller machines (ATMs) and Internet banking services.
MUIP Chairman Datuk Seri Wan Abdul Wahid Wan Hassan said PKZP provided the tithes payment service in all its 11 offices statewide as well as through mobile counters and post offices.
Meanwhile, PKZP handed over RM24,000 in tithes to the Makmur Islamic Haemodialysis Centre, RM30,000 to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital Medical Welfare Fund, RM70,000 to Smart Skill & Consultancy and RM4,300 each to four individuals.
PKZP General Manager Halidan Md Daud said PKZP was targeting RM30 million in tithes collection this year, RM3 million more than last year.
