THE MESSAGEMessage: Message:
1) I'm sure many of you watched the
recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey
Show where her guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the
show, she asked him if the statements about race he was accused of
saying were true.
Statements like"..."If I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics,
Jewish and Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made
them so nice. I wish these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white people."
His answer to Oprah was a simple "YES".
Where after she immediately asked him to leave
her show.
My suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or
perfume from Tommy Hilfiger.
Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his
clothes, let's put Him in a financial state
where he himself will not be able to afford
the ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.
BOYCOTT.
2) Scene took place on a British Airways flight
between Johannesburg and London .
A White woman, about 50 years old, was seated
next to a black man.
Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air
Hostess. "Madam, what is the matter,"
the hostess asked. "You obviously do not see it
then?" she responded.
"You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to
sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an
alternative seat." "Be calm please," the
hostess replied. "Almost all the places on this
Flight is taken.
I will go to see if another place is available." The
Hostess went away and t hen came back a few minutes
later. "Madam, Just as I thought,
there are no other available seats in the economy
class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is a seat in
the business class.
All the same, we still have one place in the first
class." Before the woman could say anything, the hostess
continued: "It is not Usual for our company to permit someone from the
economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would
be scandalous to make someone sit next to
someone so disgusting."
She turned to the black guy, and said, "Therefore,
Sir, if you would like to, please collect your hand luggage, a seat
awaits you in first class."
At that moment, the other passengers who were
shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.
Both the above are true stories. If You are against
racism, please send this message to all your friends;
"please do not Delete it without sending it to at
least one person".

Well, I rarely go for "designer" brands - but I'll watch out for Hilfiger stuff - he is the repulsive one!
Love the airline story - "Priceless"!
You could send that one over our way!
I was receiving Physical Therapy last year during Hurricane Katrina, my therapist had a patient who began blaming those (poor blacks) who died, saying it was their own fault and they deserved it.
She immediately stopped therapy, told him she could not work with a bigot, and to leave. He was stunned. I was so thrilled when she told me - I offered her a free ad on AlienLove.
In Massachusetts, I went to a restaurant manager and complained when a waiter began making disparaging comments about a hispanic co-worker and made the assumption that I agreed with his bigotry - I was very angry. The nerve! I do not take well to bigotry of any kind, and always say something when I observe it...whether from family, friends, or strangers - it makes no difference! (Often told off my ex-in-laws, many of whom were quite bigoted.)
As far as I am concerned, it is a matter of low self-esteem. These people do not feel good about themselves, but by putting whole groups of 'others' below them - they feel 'at least' they are better than those they have so designated as sub-human.
So I suppose I am intolerant .... of bigotry - guess I don't mind living with that!

There's a lane that sells fake designer brands...
Most of the clients were tourists.
I dont know why.

I think fakes are prevalent everywhere!
Just checked out the Tommy Hilfiger -- Oprah story
Apparently that's another email myth:
http://www.snopes.com/racial/business/hilfiger.asp
and that's good. I still can't see paying ten times as much for cotton clothing, etc... just cause they have somebody's label. Fake label stuff is pretty absurd, but people buy it all the time.

Yes, it's so easy to say anything on the net, and minus responsibility and accountibility it could be damaging...
It's ok in a humour column, i presume.

I did really like the airline story! (hope that one is true!)
Froggy did something like that once. He was operating a B&B (Bed & Breakfast) for the owners, while they were on vacation. One guest flipped out when he arrived because a black family was also staying at the B&B.
Froggy told the complainer he was quite free to stay elsewhere and cancelled his reservation.

yes, I too hope so.
anyway since you gave that link to the first story,
it now had 50 percent chance to still be wrong.

Perhaps, since first one is wrong - that gives a better chance for second to be right!
If it didn't happen, it should have.
But the strange thing is, bigots rarely think of themselves as such.
The patient my Physical Therapist refused to further treat, was very angry. Stormed out to the secretary, claiming he wasn't a bigot and to cancel the rest of his appointments (haha, therapist already told him she wouldn't work with him).
I know others that are the same - they can't even see it.
They are so sure they are right (better) and that their biases (bigotry) is just plain truth.
I think they almost have to believe it - it is too hard to admit the truth,
and the wrongs done as a result of falseness and lies.
