Savi announces licensing program on RFID IPSavi announces licensing program on RFID IP
Posted : 28 Aug 2006
Savi Technology, a provider of active RFID-based supply chain solutions, is offering a reasonable and non-discriminatory (RAND) licensing program on its intellectual property (IP) for active RFID products, which are based on the ISO 18000-7 active RFID air-protocol standard.
Savi Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, launched the program with a Quick Start plan that will be available through Dec. 31, 2006. At the same time, the company will also offer a regular license plan which does not have a limited period of availability. Companies that execute a licensing agreement under the Quick Start plan will pay lower up-front fees as an encouragement to early participation in the licensing program, explained Savi.
"To help meet growing market demands for RFID-based supply chain solutions, the Quick Start plan encourages the rapid proliferation of ISO 18000-7 compatible products," said Bob Kramer, Savi Technology's senior vice president of marketing and strategic development, in a statement. "Both our Quick Start and Regular licensing plans will help to ensure that standards-based active RFID solutions will continue to be deployed properly throughout defense, civilian government and commercial markets to improve supply chain visibility, management and security."
