People Have The Right To Celebrate Nation's Success, Say PM
SHAH ALAM, Sept 1 (Bernama) -- The people have the right to be happy and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's independence because they have also participated in the development of Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said today.
He said the celebrations, held in an atmosphere of gaiety and splendour, did not indicate that the people were arrogant but showed that they were grateful for God's gift of independence and the comfort and benefits that came with it.
As for Muslims, they understand that they have to strive always and that God determines the success of their endeavours, and they would definitely feel grateful that their work has resulted in progress for the people and nation, he said at the presentation of prizes for the Umno Golf Championships 2007 here.
Abdullah expressed thanks to everyone who had worked hard to stage the 50th Merdeka anniversary celebrations yesterday.
He said that after working hard, for example in making preparations for the Merdeka celebrations, they should also consider taking a break.
"It is good to also take a break, play golf (for example). I believe it is good for our health. This is part of the development of human capital in accordance with Islam Hadhari (Civilisational Islam)," he said.
Abdullah said there should be a balance in bodily strength in terms of the physical, mental and spiritual to ensure that the human capital had the fortitude to further develop the people and nation.
The prime minister then gave away prizes to the winners of the tournament, which was won by Selangor Umno for the third time consecutively since the championships began in 2005.
Shaari Mustafa of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur fired a hole-in-one yesterday and won a Mini Cooper S.
Today, an invitational tournament was held and the participants included Deputy Prime Minister and Umno Deputy President Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Umno vice-presidents Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Even more so for me since I lost a son-in-law who I deeply sincerely loved, admired and respected the day after the anniversary of Sept 11. When Hurricane Isabel came close to hitting our shores. On his way to work it started pouring down buckets. Raining cats and dogs. Has car hydro-planed off the highway on his way to work. He lost control and slammed into a ditch, hit a tree on the drivers side. He died the same way the race car driver, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. did with a broken neck and massive blooding of the brain. He was 24 yrs old when it happened and they had only been married three months. The devastation was so overwhelming to...just can't imagine it.
We have learned to be thankful. For we believe he is in a far better place. If he would have lived he would have been handicapped, crippled for the rest of his life.
One of the things he taught me, is live each day like it is your last cause you never know what tomorrow brings.
I Just Want To Celebrate - Rare Earth
VIDEO
I just want to celebrate another day of livin'
I just want to celebrate another day of life
I put my faith in the people
But the people let me down
So I turned the other way
And I carry on, anyhow
That's why I'm telling you
I just want to celebrate, yeah, yeah
I just want to celebrate, yeah, yeah
Another day of living,
I just want to celebrate another day of life
Had my hand on the dollar bill
And the dollar bill blew away
But the sun is shining down on me
And it's here to stay
That's why I'm telling you
I just want to celebrate, yeah, yeah
Another day of living, yeah
I just want to celebrate another day of living
I just want to celebrate another day of life
Don't let it all get you down,
Don't let it turn you around and around
And around and around
Well, I can't be bothered with sorrow
And I can't be bothered with hate, no, no
I'm using up my time by feeling fine, every day
That's why I'm telling you I just want to celebrate
Aw, yeah
I just want to celebrate yeah yeah
Another day of living, yeah yeah
I just want to celebrate another day of livin', yeah
I just want to celebrate another day of life
Don't let it all get you down, no, no
Don't let it turn you around and around,
And around and around, and around
Around round round
'round and around round round round
don't go 'round

condolence.. for your lost of your son in law...
obmar.
I remember a few years back, a classmate in high school, who was teaching dentistry in the local U got a phone call, saying that his father had a stroke/ heart attack.
He rushed to see the father, some 150 KM away, only to meet an accident that took his live.
The father was only hospitalised then.
He is the Giver of Life
He is the Giver of Death too.

My son-in-law was on his way to work that day. Wearing a seat belt. Was an excellent driver. Never did anything immoral or unethical when it came to driving a vehicle. The authorities could find nothing wrong with the vehicle. Nor where there any signs showing he was speeding. He had been making installments on the vehicle and actually just bought the vehicle. The sad thing, his parents went and paid the vehicle off as a wedding gift.
He was a computer geek. Built me my very first computer out of old and used computer parts as a Christmas present. I was ecstatic since I had wanted one for so long.
He worked hard and went to school lots. Worked as many as 3 part time jobs and still he found the time to go to school and study. Wasn't nothing he didn't know about computers. Ended up working for the number one ranked computer service provider in this area. When he died all that knowledge and wisdom went with him.
Just started working as a computer expert for this company when my daughter and him got married. He was 24 yrs old when he died. When he died I was wondering how I was gonna pay for the funeral expense. Most youngsters don't think about life insurance and all that at such a young age. We had no idea he had, since he had only been working for the company 3 months. The miracle...the life insurance policy he had at work "just kicked" in before he died. Other then that I would have had to beg, borrow and steal to probably pay for the funeral.
Today is Labor Day. Happy Labor Day!!! I don't know if you celebrate that in your country???

I drove 250 km south on sunday to send my fourth son back to college.
On the way back we passed Putrajaya, where they had the fireworks show.
it was so nice that we had to shop for an half an hour at a beautiful spot along the highway. It was superb.
