Pahang To Collaborate With Companies, IPT To Produce Herbal Medicines
KUANTAN, May 28 (Bernama) -- Pahang Monday invited companies and institutions of higher learning (IPT) to forge a collaboration to develop herbal medicines on a commercial basis.
State Information, Science, Innovation and Information Technology Committee chairman Datuk Mohamed Sharkar Shamsudin said Pahang, which was endowed with large tracts of forest, had the potential to develop high-tech herbal products.
"We are inviting investors or private companies and IPT to carry out research and development on herbal products.
"Pahang has large tracts of forest rich in herbal plants which have yet to be researched and we need the expertise to develop herbal biotechnology," he told Bernama.
He said a seminar on alternative medicines would be held here next month to chart the growth of the herbal industry.
"We hope the seminar will open new opportunities for us to develop herbal products using biotechnology on commercial basis," he said.
