Kulim High Tech Park Impresses Zambia
KULIM, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- The Zambian government is impressed with the rapid growth of the Kulim High Technology Industrial Park (KHTP) with its ability to attract investments worth billions of Ringgit especially from renowned companies in the world, Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said.
He said Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa had stopped to visit the park Wednesday on his return trip after attending the Langkawi International Dialogue which ended yesterday.
During the visit, the Zambian President also visited the Silterra semi-conductor factory and was briefed on the KHTP by its chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Shukri.
"He is impressed with KHTP and hoped a similar project that would be carried out in Zambia with the cooperation of the Kulim Technology Park Corporation (KTPC) will also be as successful," Mahdzir told reporters after accompanying Mwanawasa on the visit to KHTP.
He said Zambia had appointed KTPC as a consultant for the setting up of a 2,000 hectare high technology economic zone at Lusaka to be known as the Lusaka Multi Facility Economic Zone.
He said KTPC had sent some officers to Zambia for the purpose.
"KTPC will also prepare the master plan for the development of the economic zone which will be carried out in stages," he added.
