During the geological Pleistocene time of 17 cycles about 1,000,000 - 10,000 years ago the temperature dropped 5C from the present tropical temperature, Mount Kinabalu was snow/ice-capped, the temperate southern and northern were covered with ice sheets; the hydrological cycle was broken and so the sea level dropped to 120 meters from present levels. So the sea floors were exposed and present land masses got connected.

So our great-great-great grand pa and ma originated in northern Africa/Arab migrated thru' the landbridges during that Pleisticene time (NB: the evident of Nabi Noh ark and Musa sea crossing could be related to this geological events; as much as the first human cloning was shown by Adam years before, pls correct me of i'm wrong). About 50,000 years ago our ancestors migrated from Asia, thru Peninsular, walked over the landbridge (now drowned as South China Sea), crossed over ancient Sunda River and found Niah Cave where there settled, gathered, ate, bred, dispersed and burried the dead. Thus Mulu Cave might also be one of the ancient shelter now being known only for millions of edible swiftlet nests and free-tailed bats.

Visit Niah Cave first to know our history and Mulu for the beautiful humangous caves; sitting in those caves, it's surreal to be where our ancestors were having loads of fun.

That's one of the caves that could hide a Boeing 747 without difficulty, right?

How do one reach it from Kuching?

bus? fly? how?

Fly KL-Miri-Mulu return; stay at Mulu Resort at rm200/nite or at Mulu Natl park rm15/head hostel or rm150/nite chalet. self-guided tour to the caves that can park several 747s; other cave need a boat ride of rm100/boat. there are many guides to show around.
