Coundown 50th Mrdeka celebratiomThe coundown has already begun for Malaysia's 50th Anniversary celebrations.It's a year-long party and eveyone is invited to take part in the festivities!
In honour of this occasion, the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism has planned several wprld-class events around the country to celebrate fifty years of nation-hood. Foremost is the stunning "Malaysia International Fireworks Compatition" set to light up the skies over the nation's capital, Putrajaya.
This competition is part of the "Malaysia@50" festival where non-stop, night-time entertainment will be provided during the last weeks of August.
Included in the festival is the "Electric Parade" an illuminated processions of extraordinary floats. The festivities will contiue every night with the "Golden Jubliee Night Show" featuring the "Aquatic Theater" and an "Animated Light Show"that retells the historical story of Malaysia.
Putrajaya, Malaysia magnificent showcase city is located only minutes from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Its majestic Jakes bridges and interconnected waterways are set to glitter during this extravagant multicultural festival.

President Bush Announces Delegation to 50th Anniversary Celebration of Malaysia's Independence
President George W. Bush today announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Malaysia's Independence in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on August 31, 2007.
The Honorable Jeffrey Clay Sell, Deputy Secretary of Energy, will lead the delegation.

Those are just preludes still.
The news straits times issued a complimentary preindependence newspaper since yesterday. It was interesting to look what the paper was 50 years ago.
today is the 26th 2007 so the suplementary paper is 26th 1957, and it goes the same until 31st August The attachment is sponsored by a plantation group.
Good as I showed the children what advertisement were then, some products brands still in the market while many had dissapeared. Interesting too was the advertisement on what films were in which theater. Interesting as well was that was in the news then,
The major concern was Communism.
