Asthma Patients Can Lead Normal Lives, Says Doctor
KUALA LUMPUR, May 7 (Bernama) -- A group of asthma patients proved the illness was no hindrance for them to lead an active life by participating in a jogathon held in conjunction with the World Asthma Day Sunday.
They were among about 1,300 people who participated in the 10 kilometre-run which was flagged off by Federal Territories Ministry Secretary General Datuk Abdul Hakim Borhan at Padang Merbok here.
"Many think that asthma is troublesome and to get the attack once or twice a week is normal and acceptable," Consultant Paediatrician and Paediatric Chest Physician at Kuala Lumpur Hospital Dr Norzila Mohamed Zainudin told reporters at the venue.
She said the number of asthma patients in the country was still under control despite a four per cent increase in the number annually.
